Alaska

Alaska, also known as the last frontier, is the 49th state to enter great United States. It was purchased from Russia in 1959 for about 2 cents an acre! The majority of land is inaccessible by car, so you must access it by boat or plane.

You may think of cold temperatures when you think of Alaska, but there is SO much more to the US’s largest state than that! The state’s mineral is gold, and thanks to popular reality shows about gold panning, it has had a second gold rush! Ice fishing, skiing, dog sledding, and checking out the Northern Lights are popular activities the winter. In the summer, when the days are long, you can experience the midnight sun, hiking, wildlife viewing, whale watching, sport fishing, and watch the salmon swim upstream to spawn.

You may be surprised to find that an Alaskan vacation tops your list of favorite destinations! I know I was and am so excited to go back! So, start planning a cruise or a land tour today!
