That's amazing! Proud of you. I ended up doing the trail in 2 different days because I only had 1 vehicle so had to turn around. It's an amazing trail but difficult.

Did the WHOLE Firey Gizzard trail on August 8,2025. We hit the trail at 8:30 am. Made steady progress throughout the day. Did not stop more than 10-15 minutes at a time. On the lower part of the trail, we averaged 1/2 a mile per hour bc of the rock scrambling, stairs and steep terrain. We ended up hiking 5 hours in the dark! Anyone who can do the lower part in 7 hrs (per the warning sign) must be younger have bionic legs and a light pack. Hiking sticks were my best friend, but remember not to grasp them hard and relax your hands & shoulders. We did not see any snakes. We did not get any insect bites,no ticks. We startled a deer in the dark and it almost ran over us, so make noise or tie a bell on you to alert the wildlife. We were a party of 3 and carried 4 gallons of water, a half a cup more than we needed Was in the mid 80's. Take a printed map bc the map boxes at the trailhead are full of trash, not maps. When you get to dog hole trail spur, check ur time and energy. That's the way to go if you are tired. The terrain after Dog Hole spur is harder if you stay on the FG. We started the trail at Firey Gizzard Rd and hiked to Foster Falls. We had cars at each end. We started at 8:30 am and finished at 3 am.Be ready. Get plenty of rest the day bf. I'm 65,female,5'7,140lbs,good hips (w 1 replacement last year) and good knees. I did it!

Went from Foster Falls to Grundy Forest on Monday in trail runners. Weather was low '80s and mostly cloudy. Lovely! Beware if you have knee or other issues; lots of rock scrambling and roots on trail. Portions were level. Rock formations were truly awe inspiring. Didn't see any venomous or other snakes, but the terrain looked to be well suited for them. Keep your eyes open. Trail is very well marked, but still easy to make a wrong turn if you're not an experienced hiker. Glad I went with a younger friend who scouted the trail in a couple of places.
