When planning my trip to Lapland, I knew that staying in a glass igloo was a must for me. I had seen pictures on social media of glass igloos near Rovaniemi. The prices were quite steep and the glass igloos were set side by side that allowed for little privacy. The reviews of these glass igloos were filled with complaints of poor customer service.
When discussing travel plans with Adventure by Design, Elina mentioned there were more glass igloos than what I had seen on social media. She mentioned one in Norway along the Lyngen Fjord called Lyngen North. I took her advice and am so glad that I did!
We arrived to our glass igloo in Norway around midnight in the midst of a great Northern Lights show. After Elina and Gareth gave us the tour of our glass igloo, they left us to enjoy the Aurora.
It was so romantic to lay in bed watching the amazing lights dance across the sky. Oh, did I mention it is an electrical adjustable bed? PERFECT for watching the aurora. We stayed up until almost 4 in the morning watching it.
The next morning, we woke up to the most beautiful mountain view with the fjord in front. Since we had not seen it when we arrived the previous night, it felt like Christmas morning to see the beautiful view.
At 9 AM the owner came by with a Finnish breakfast. This just added to our wonderful stay at the glass igloo in Lapland.
There is a small kitchen area with a table if you want to make your own food.
There is a privacy curtain that goes around the bed area.
The bathroom has non see through glass windows so that you cannot see in or out for added privacy.
Many people have asked it it was warm. Even Chris was worried we were going somewhere with no heat or power. He was thrilled to find out it was a cozy glass igloo with a heat pump and AC. There are even heated floors! He loved staying here.
And for those of you who like to stay connected (and share some photos with your loved ones), there is WiFi!
What I loved most about this glass igloo in Lapland compared to others, is the view and privacy. The fact that there are only 2 igloos keeps it isolated and without light pollution. I think many igloos side by side could distract from the dark sky. Lyngen North is also about half the price of other glass igloos.
