There is SO much to do on a cruise! With so many cruise itineraries with ports that are full of culture and activity, you may find your sea day to be one of the best. There is time for many activities that you would not enjoy if you get off the ship at every port. You either love or hate port days. But, here are some things to do to make the best of the cruise sea day!
Things to do on a Cruise Sea Day
1 – Relax by the pool
You can relax by one of the many pools found on your cruise ship. Finding a place to sit may be difficult if you wait until mid day. You will find your cruise mates have already reserved their seat for the day. Go early for the best seating position!
2 – Check out the ship’s entertainment
Cruise lines go out of their way to keep you entertained! We love the Love & Marriage Game Show that Royal Caribbean does with the couples; new, old, and average length marriages. Carnival has their own version as well. They are always entertaining! The cruise lines have broadway type shows that are comparative to the ones in NYC. The sets and lighting effects are just fascinating! There are sometimes flash mobs, parades, magic shows, cruise passenger interactive shows, ice skating shows, and many more ways to keep you entertained!
3 – Get active!
Go to the gym. Climb the rock wall. Zipline. Play mini-golf, basketball, or ping pong. Swim. See if you can ride the waves on the surf simulators. Jog on the running track around the ship. Bust a move in the disco. Ice skate on the ship. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy.
4 – Karaoke
Whether you are participating or an audience member, karaoke is fun! There are some really good singers on the ship…and some REALLY bad! Still, it is all entertaining!
5 – Eat and drink
There is so much to eat and drink on a cruise ship. There is something for everyone. Start with breakfast in bed. Eat brunch if you desire in the main dining room or at the buffet. Orange and apple juice is free at this time. Eat lunch in one of the poolside eateries. Snack on sweet treats throughout the ship, including ice cream or yogurt! Eat supper at one of the many restaurants or in the main dining room for free. Eat a late night snack, such as pizza! If you are on a Royal Caribbean ship, you can have coffee from Starbucks or a milkshake from Johnny Rockets. There are plenty of drinks- alcoholic or virgin.
6 – Get pampered in the spa
Enjoy the many services the spa provides, such as a manicure, pedicure, massage (with or without your significant other!), facial, body wrap, hair services, and many more. Cruise lines offer many additional services in the spa these days, like teeth whitening, acupuncture, and cellulite reduction treatments. These appointments fill up quickly. I advise booking before you board, or the first day. There are sometimes appointments available on the sea day when other passengers cancel their services.
7 – Take a nap
Relax in your room or on one of the decks. Take a nap during your day to refresh your body!
8 – Test your luck in the casino
Try out your luck playing slots or gamble at the tables. Get the Las Vegas casino atmosphere right there on your cruise ship.
9 – Shop
There is plenty of shopping to do on board some of the larger cruise ships. Check your daily planner to find out if there are any sea day specials to stock up on souvenirs!
10 – Star gaze
I love to relax on the top deck and stare into the sunset until the stars come out at night! For some, the night skies may be some of the darkest you will see.
