Your trip sounds amazing! Myself, my sister, my daughter and her 2 kids age 9 and 11 are going there in a couple of days, leaving March 25 and returning on 30th. We really prefer not to use guided tours. Is it possible for us to do all of the things on our own in a rental car?

In reply to Krystle. Hi! I advise trying Skyscanner from your destination to get the cheapest deals for when you want to go. I only used Steve as he was like a taxi/tour guide for me! He was great. Even took me to McDonald's because I was hungry; even though I'm not a fan (it was starving!). I rented them for 3 days and it was already at the hotel-they fly them in. Most tours will pick up at the area hotels as they are close together, but I would check their specific website. I just winged it! LOL

Hello! i enjoyed reading your blog of your Alaska trip! 🙂 i am thinking of doing a solo trip next month in January for my Birthday (kinda last minute) if not, maybe next year in January. may i ask which airlines yoiu flew in? also did you have to take uber’s everywhere? and how many days did you rent your winter gear? also you mentioned that your tour guide name was Steve but does he have a website that i can schd a northern lights tour on or the name of his business? if i go, i might stay at a cheaper hotel. do you know if those tours pick up at which ever hotel or only specific hotels? i am trying to get as much info as possible since its my first time traveling alone. i hope i can do it 🙂

In reply to Swathi. Also, there was supposed to be clear skies my first night and a snow storm came out of no where. Can't make this stuff up! Ruined my chances of seeing the Northern Lights and I had to figure out another way of seeing the lights and re-arrange my schedule.
