Sun Country Airlines Review – Cheap Flights from Nashville

Sun Country Airlines recently started flying into Nashville, Tennessee. When I found a cheap flight to Nashville during the holidays back from the Fort Myers area, I started looking into who this new airlines was to the Tennessee area. Of course, any time a new airline comes in, prices tend to go down due to supply and demand. So, I was curious to find out what THIS airline had to offer in comparison to the other airlines. So, here’s my Sun Country Airlines review.

The check in process was very simple. You can pay in advance for a particular seat or do like I did and just take what you get. So, I had to wait to check in at the airport. There was only one line at the airport and I noticed the same person who took my bags also opened the gate when the plane arrived later on. When I received my plane ticket, I was delighted to find out our seats were next to each other.

However, the person who pays extra for carry on luggage will get to board before the person who does not. 

Sun Country Air reservations are simple to make. If looking for cheap flights on Sun Country Air, I would suggest signing up for their newsletter to be aware of their weekly deals and new routes. You never know when a good flight deal like the one I took advantage of will come up!

I booked a last minute one way flight to Fort Myers that was over $1000 with other airlines and only paid just over $20 with Sun Country Air with taxes and fees. When I checked for more deals like this, there were several about a month out but not every single day of the week. So, be flexible if you are looking for a good deal when they run a sale. Unfortunately, it’s like this with all airlines and the best deals are on the slowest days of the week for travel like Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Baggage fees on Sun Country Air are expensive so my advice is to combine your belongings into one suitcase if you are traveling with someone to save money. That way you can check it and forget it until your destination. Otherwise, you will have to pay for your carry on luggage. 

So how is the room much leg room is there on Sun Country Air? I felt like it was no different than any other budget airline.as you can see in the photo, there’s just not ever enough leg room on a flight. There was a note in one of the written materials to read stating that they are updating the seats to provide comfortable leg room and recline.

Some of the other updates mentioned include new seats and tray tables as well as free in-seat power streaming entertainment to your personal device. 

This is on top of the free drinks and snacks that most budget airlines don’t include in the price of a ticket. 

Sun Country is a budget airlines that if you are flexible on your date and plan ahead, you can find some really good deals. However, I found my flight about 2 weeks before the trip. We flew out on a Friday and came back on a Monday which are generally expensive days to fly. My advice is to sign up for their newsletter and book a trip when you are comfortable paying the price!

Sun Country Airlines is adding many new destinations and I would not hesitate to fly with them again if given the chance. If you have the chance to fly with them, give them a try!

Some of the locations they are flying to from Nashville are Las Vegas, Los Angeles, St. Paul, Phoenix, Providence, Sacramento, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon. They seem to have some other airports pop up for a short time like Fort Myers (that I flew into), Denver, and Orlando so check out their website before booking your next flight. Or do like I always do and use Skyscanner to make sure you are always getting the cheapest flight to your destination before booking directly with the airline.

I would not hesitate to fly with them again if given the chance. If you have the chance to fly with them, give them a try!
