The Chanler at Cliff Walk is one of the most historic mansions in Newport and is rumored to be one of the most romantic hotels in America. Starting as John Winthrop Chanler’s summertime cottage along the coast of Newport, Rhode Island, the mansion years later became a hotel for others to enjoy. Each room is elegantly decorated around a particular period of time in old world elegance. We chose the Chanler at Cliff Walk Peonies and Ivy room.

As soon as I entered the lobby, I knew I was going to love my stay at the Chanler at Cliff Walk. The lobby was elegantly decorated and we were quickly greeted by the staff.

After a quick registration, one of the staff escorted us to our room.

I chose the Peonies and Ivy room for 2 reasons. First, I felt the price was the best for a room a hot tub and a view of the ocean from the porch. Second, the room style appealed to me.

The room is one of the garden villas and was elegantly decorated from floor to ceiling. There was a fireplace under the television and the most comfortable bed.

The staff had left us a personal note for staying at the Chanler at Cliff Walk, as well as some champagne!

I really felt like a princess staying here!

Forget feeling like a princess. The bathroom was fit for a queen. Of course, it was decorated beautifully. But, the floor was heated and there was a tv placed perfectly where I could watch it as I relaxed in the bath.

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I’m a coca cola fan. I was surprised to notice that the fridge was stocked with coca colas in a glass bottle! 🙂

One of the amenities the Chanler at Cliff Walk has is free transportation to nearby restaurants and such. So, we decided to check out the downtown area. The staff dropped us off after giving us some pointers. When we were ready to be picked up, we just called the number on the card given to us and they were there in a jiffy!

We had the privilege of seeing more of the rooms.

Upon arrival back at the hotel, we chatted with the staff who very kindly showed us a couple of the other rooms that were vacant. Here’s the Renaissance Room:

Next, we checked out the Williamsburg room.

When we returned to the room, we noticed someone had come in the room for turn down service and left us a box of chocolates.

The next morning, we woke up in time to catch the sunrise before heading to the Cafe for breakfast.

Breakfast at the Chanler at Cliff Walk.

We made our way through the lobby and were seated in the Cafe for breakfast. The room was beautifully decorated and staff were very attentive.

We started out with a fresh fruit drink while waiting for our breakfast.

Breakfast was delicious. Check out our yummy food!

After breakfast, we walked along the sidewalk in front of the Chanler. I tried to imagine myself staying here at the time it was first built. The home is just so beautiful and in a perfect location along the waterfront. I definitely agree that the hotel is one of the most romantic in the United States.
